All grow rooms require proper planning and time, and even for the most well-prepared professional, starting a new room can present an assortment of unexpected problems. Before you head out and purchase the seeds for your plants, you must have an idea for how much an operation will cost and how to construct a room. While each indoor farmer may have different plants and objectives, one goal all growers share is having healthy plants that can grow as fast as possible, and to make this goal a reality, a grower will need grow products and a well built room.

Budget

The number of LED lights, size of the room, number of plants and any air ventilators in place will decide the costs for starting a room, and some may be as cheap as $1,000 dollars to as high as $10,000 dollars, and most of the costs will come from electrical items. From ventilators for air circulation to the LED lights used for growing plants, each electrical product will chew up the largest part of a budget for any grow room, as some of these pieces of equipment can cost you as low as a few hundred dollars to as high as a thousand dollars. It is always better to do homework on grow lights, air-cooled lights and air ventilation systems to get a concept for the best equipment for your room.

Room Setup

For growers, one of the most key features to consider is how the room is set up because poor room structures can mean poor plant growth. All LED panels should shine downward to hit the plants straight on, while the room color should be white to better bounce light off the walls and hit the plants. It is best to get a picture as to where equipment will actually be placed once in the room, such as where lights will hang, pots will go and what upgrades for air circulation will be required. By using masking tape and sketches to label the location for equipment, you’ll get a better image of how big your grow room can be and the sort of equipment you can buy.

Lights

One of the most crucial pieces of equipment will be the LED grow light in the center of the room; for small operations, only one light may be necessary, but for bigger operations, several lights may need to be purchased. Each operation is different from others, but the lights you buy must provide enough lighting for your plants, and it is key that you spend the money and buy a good light panel as this item will be constantly used. If you spend money on a less costly panel, your results will show and your lights may burn out faster than expected.
