Many criminals have found ways to vanish entirely over the years to avoid the police or move away from people they have taken something from. The dawn of new small technology has made it very hard for many people to disappear, yet seasoned criminals still find it very easy to elude police for extended periods of time. There are a few key methods that they have used over the years, but there are some problems with them when they are not done correctly.
Criminals usually prefer to assume an entirely new identity and relocate themselves to a new area to escape the law. It is pretty easy for individuals to pick up someone’s personal information to start a new life. Unfortunately a large number of these people get caught at some point, and one of two reasons is usually the culprit. Many felons cannot wait to get out of their area so they do not get captured, but end up becoming a suspect in the process. If someone is not found for a long amount of time, the police will release countrywide photos, and they are typically found eventually. The second reason is the particular person will often not leave their past life entirely out of conversation with their new friends which ultimately ties back into their past.
Many people get US passports using fake ID in advance of their offenses and use them to disappear quickly. Doing it this way with a fake name will permit them to escape but come back discreetly should they ever decide to. Applying for visas in advance as well, such as for Russian visas, allows for a person to relocate there and get citizenship. Many countries have protection for their citizen that does not allow them to be taken by other governments. Although many do get away like this, criminals of the past have run into rough patches with the government of their new country. These individuals have often been called spies and abused with no security for the individual, making for an environment that is worse than residing in prison.
Many individuals place themselves in a type of prison when they escape and have to reside as a recluse forever. Desperate criminals that do not plan ahead will often go into hiding as a recluse or live as a wanderer all through their lives. Lots of people do not end up living happily, since they have to worry so much and keep a distance from their loved ones.
